Domino’s Real Estate

Business Category: Quick-Service, Restaurants

In 1960, Dominick’s was founded by brothers, Tom and James Monaghan in Ypsilanti, Michigan. By 1965, Dominick’s was renamed and revamped when James traded his half of the business to Tom, resulting in the current namesake: Domino’s. In 1967, the first Domino’s franchise store opened for business in the same town as its flagship and by 1968, Domino’s opened its first location outside of Michigan in Burlington, Vermont.

Fast-forward through eighteen years and a copyright infringement lawsuit from Domino Sugar (which was settled later in 1980 in favor of Domino’s Pizza), Domino’s boasted two hundred locations in 1978.   And the rest is history, including their 1998 Heat Wave technology: a “hot bag patented technology” to keep pizza “oven-hot” while it’s on its way to the customer, being named the “Official Pizza of NASCAR” in 2003, their 2007 launch of online and mobile ordering, and 2015’s Domino’s DXP vehicle with built-in warming oven and extra storage for delivery, just to name a few of their innovations and accomplishments. Fifty-six years later, Domino’s has over 12,000 locations globally. In 2015, Domino’s reported over $2 Billion in net sales and revenue.

Although Domino’s is best known for their variety of pizzas, the menu now offers plentiful options in case you are in the mood for something else. Additional menu items include sandwiches, pasta, salads, entrees, dessert, breads and more.

Domino’s is also highly regarded and commended for their tireless charity work and partnership with St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital.
