Knight Drugs was a regional pharmacy chain that operated primarily in Michigan and the Upper Midwest from its founding in 1940 through the mid-1980s. The company built its reputation as a community-focused drugstore operator, offering prescription medications, over-the-counter products, and health essentials with an emphasis on personalized customer service and relationships with local healthcare providers. Over four decades, Knight Drugs expanded steadily across Michigan and neighboring states, becoming a recognized name in regional retail pharmacy.

The company's independent era ended in September 1984 when Rite Aid Corporation acquired Knight Drugs as part of a broader push to establish a national footprint in the Midwest. This acquisition reflected a significant shift in American pharmacy retail, as regional and independent operators consolidated under larger national chains. Following the purchase, Knight Drugs locations were gradually rebranded or closed throughout the late 1980s, with the brand eventually disappearing from the market entirely.

As of November 2025, Knight Drugs no longer operates as an independent entity. Its store locations have since been absorbed into other chains or repurposed for different retail uses.
