Christopher & Banks, established in 1956, is a well-known retailer specializing in women's apparel and accessories. The company began its journey as Braun's Fashions in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and rebranded to Christopher & Banks in 2000, expanding its presence across the United States. At its height, the brand operated over 450 stores in 45 states, including more than 200 locations under the C.J. Banks banner, which catered specifically to plus-size women. This made Christopher & Banks a significant player in the women's specialty retail market.

Over the years, Christopher & Banks built a reputation for offering classic, comfortable, and affordable fashion, particularly in suburban and secondary markets. However, like many in the retail sector, the company faced challenges due to changing consumer preferences and the rapid growth of e-commerce.
