About Easy Rental
Easy Rental began its journey in 1984 as a U.S.-based company focused on providing rental solutions for furniture, appliances, and electronics. It catered to both residential and commercial clients, offering flexible rental terms and a wide array of products. Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, Easy Rental experienced steady growth, establishing more than 120 locations across 15 states by the early 2000s. The company was particularly strong in the Midwest and Southeast regions.
Easy Rental's business model was designed to meet the needs of customers seeking short- or long-term rental options. This included services for corporate relocations, apartment staging, and temporary housing. The company set itself apart with features like same-day delivery and a no-credit-check policy, appealing to a diverse customer base that included property managers and individuals in transition.
In 2006, Easy Rental was acquired by Rent-A-Center, a prominent name in the rent-to-own sector. This acquisition was a strategic effort by Rent-A-Center to consolidate its market presence and expand its geographic reach. Following the acquisition, Easy Rental's locations were either rebranded or integrated into Rent-A-Center's operations, leading to the gradual phase-out of the Easy Rental brand by 2008.
As of November 2025, Easy Rental no longer operates as an independent brand. However, its influence is still felt through the expanded services and reach of Rent-A-Center. Easy Rental is remembered in the commercial real estate world for its rapid expansion, adaptable store formats, and significant impact on the rental industry's competitive landscape during its two decades of operation.
