About Ferguson
Ferguson is the largest distributor of plumbing supplies, pipes, valves, fittings, waterworks, and fire protection products in the United States, serving a wide range of professional contractors and businesses across commercial, industrial, and residential sectors. The company began in 1953 as a regional distributor in Colmar Manor, Maryland. A pivotal moment in its history came in 1982, when it was acquired by Wolseley plc, now known as Ferguson plc, which set the stage for accelerated national growth and a broader product offering.
As of November 2025, Ferguson operates more than 1,700 locations across all 50 states, including distribution centers, showrooms, and sales offices. Its workforce numbers approximately 35,000 employees. The company reported annual revenues of $29.7 billion for the fiscal year ending July 2024, underscoring its scale and market leadership. Over the past five years, Ferguson has expanded its footprint through a combination of new store openings, relocations, and targeted acquisitions, with a particular emphasis on high-growth metropolitan areas, logistics hubs, and Sun Belt states such as Texas, Florida, California, Georgia, North Carolina, and Arizona.
Ferguson’s real estate approach is built around flexible formats tailored to different customer needs. This includes specialized locations such as Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Galleries, Ferguson HVAC, and Ferguson Waterworks, each designed to serve specific segments of the construction and renovation market. The company continues to invest in new distribution centers, showrooms, and trade counters, focusing on areas with strong contractor demand and significant infrastructure investment. Ferguson’s national presence, diverse store concepts, and robust financial backing position it as a reliable anchor or co-tenant in a variety of development projects.
