Homesense is a home furnishings retailer within The TJX Companies, Inc., the global off-price group that also operates TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Winners, TK Maxx and Sierra. The concept runs under two closely related banners: HomeSense in Canada and Homesense in Europe. Both focus on selling brand-name and designer home merchandise at prices below traditional full-line home and department stores, with a mix that can include furniture, décor, soft home, kitchenware and seasonal goods.

TJX launched the HomeSense banner in Canada in 2001 as a dedicated off-price home store that would complement its Winners apparel business. What began as a focused home experiment has since become a core part of the TJX Canada segment alongside Winners and Marshalls. Building on that success, TJX later brought the Homesense concept to the United Kingdom and Ireland under its TJX International segment, positioning it next to TK Maxx as a stand-alone home store format rather than a small in-store department. That cross-border transfer of the concept is a notable milestone in the brand’s evolution, showing how TJX scaled a Canadian format into a broader European home platform.

As of November 2025, TJX operates 237 Homesense-branded stores across these two regions, with 161 HomeSense locations in Canada and 76 Homesense locations in Europe. Those stores sit inside a much larger TJX fleet of thousands of off-price locations worldwide, supported by a centralized corporate platform and regional real estate teams in Canada and Europe. Homesense benefits from the same global buying network, disciplined off-price model and inventory turnover that underpin the rest of TJX.

Over roughly the last five years, Homesense has shifted from being a smaller, complementary banner to a meaningful growth vehicle within TJX’s home category strategy. TJX has repeatedly highlighted home as a strategic focus and has reported steady increases in Homesense and HomeSense store counts in Canada and Europe between fiscal 2025 and the third quarter of fiscal 2026. The company has signaled that additional units are expected, largely through new store openings in existing markets and adjacent trade areas across Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland and select European countries served by TJX International. That pattern points to a continued, measured expansion posture rather than a static or mature footprint.

For landlords, brokers and developers, Homesense typically appears as a large-format, single-story box that functions as a destination home store in open-air power centers, community centers and select infill locations. Stores often sit alongside TJX sister banners, creating a multi-brand draw that can lift visits across a center. The flexible interior layouts support a wide and shifting range of home categories, which helps the concept stay relevant to shoppers and maintain repeat traffic. Although Homesense does not report separate financials and does not maintain its own public-facing real estate contacts, each store is backed by TJX’s regional organizations and consolidated balance sheet, giving counterparties an experienced, investment-grade tenant with a long track record in off-price retail and a clear commitment to ongoing growth in home.
