Pet Supermarket operates specialty retail stores selling pet food, supplies, and services across the United States. Founded in 1973 as Pet Circus in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the company rebranded as Pet Supermarket in 1986 and has grown to 219 locations as of April 2025. The chain maintains a strong presence in Florida with 148 stores representing 68% of its footprint, plus locations in Georgia (21), Texas (17), North Carolina (16), Alabama (8), South Carolina (7), Tennessee, and several other states. Corporate headquarters remains in Sunrise, Florida, where it has operated since its early years.

Roark Capital Group acquired Pet Supermarket in May 2015 and subsequently merged it with Pet Valu in July 2016 to form Pet Retail Brands. The company operates stores ranging from 7,000 to 9,000 square feet, larger than typical pet retail formats, carrying over 8,000 pet care products including food, toys, accessories, and health items. Many locations offer grooming services and dog wash stations. The company partners with local organizations to facilitate pet adoptions in stores and supports community initiatives through its Lend a Paw charitable program, which has raised nearly $4 million.
