About Quality Food Centers
Quality Food Centers, known as QFC, is a well-established supermarket chain with deep roots in the Pacific Northwest. The company began in Seattle in 1955, building a reputation for offering a wide range of fresh foods and everyday essentials in a customer-focused environment. Over the years, QFC expanded steadily, becoming a familiar presence in neighborhoods across Washington and Oregon.
In 1997, QFC became part of The Kroger Company, one of the largest grocery operators in the United States. This connection has provided stability and resources, allowing QFC to maintain its regional identity while benefiting from national scale. As of November 2025, QFC operates 58 stores, all located in Washington and Oregon. These stores are typically found in high-traffic, neighborhood settings, serving as reliable anchors in local shopping centers.
Rather than rapid expansion, QFC’s recent strategy has focused on reinvesting in its existing locations. The chain has prioritized remodeling stores and enhancing digital services, keeping pace with changing consumer habits. This measured approach reflects a commitment to quality and convenience, with each location offering a full-service grocery experience that includes fresh produce, bakery, deli, pharmacy, and specialty departments.
QFC’s ongoing upgrades and steady presence make it a consistent partner for landlords and developers in the region. Its connection to Kroger adds further credibility, while its focus on neighborhood markets and modern retail formats ensures it remains a relevant and dependable tenant in the Pacific Northwest.
