About Run On!

Run On! was a specialty running retailer based in Dallas, Texas, founded in 1995 by Bob and Rebecca Wallace. The company built a reputation for its close ties to the local running community, offering a mix of running shoes, apparel, and hands-on expertise for athletes of all levels. Over the years, Run On! grew its presence across the Dallas-Fort Worth area, operating multiple stores and becoming known for hosting training programs, races, and group runs that attracted both new and seasoned runners.

A major turning point came in October 2012, when Run On! was acquired by JackRabbit, a national specialty running chain previously known as The Finish Line, Inc. After the acquisition, Run On! continued to operate under its original name for several years, benefiting from broader resources and a wider product selection. However, between 2016 and 2018, JackRabbit consolidated its Texas operations and phased out the Run On! brand, rebranding all locations under the JackRabbit name. As of November 2025, no stores operate under the Run On! banner, and the brand is considered defunct.

Run On! is remembered for its strong community engagement and its role in shaping the specialty running retail landscape in Texas. Its legacy continues through JackRabbit’s ongoing presence in the region, reflecting the broader trend of consolidation and brand evolution within the fitness retail sector over the past five years. For landlords, brokers, and developers, Run On! stands out as an example of a retailer that successfully built local credibility before integrating into a national platform, demonstrating the value of community-focused formats and the impact of strategic acquisitions on regional retail markets.
