About Scoop
Scoop NYC was a contemporary fashion retailer that began in New York City in 1996. The company was founded with a vision to create a curated shopping experience, bringing together designer labels and up-and-coming brands in one space. Its first store opened in SoHo and quickly became known for its “ultimate closet” approach, appealing to shoppers looking for both established and emerging fashion. Over the years, Scoop expanded into major urban markets, including Miami, Los Angeles, and Chicago, and at its height operated 15 stores nationwide.
The brand stood out for its open, loft-inspired store layouts and minimalist design, which allowed merchandise to be the focal point. Scoop also built a reputation for exclusive collaborations and capsule collections, helping it stay relevant in a highly competitive retail landscape. In 2015, Scoop was acquired by Tengram Capital Partners, a private equity firm, in an effort to revitalize the business and support further growth.
Despite its strong brand identity and history of innovation, Scoop NYC faced mounting challenges from shifting consumer habits and the rise of e-commerce. As of May 2016, the company closed all its stores and ceased retail operations, following a period of declining sales and a difficult retail environment. While its physical presence is now gone and its social media channels remain inactive, Scoop NYC is remembered for its distinctive approach to boutique retail and its influence on the way multi-brand fashion stores are designed and operated.
