A new convenience store will be built in South Ward at the southeast corner of Elizabeth Avenue and East Runyon Street, across from Dunkin' Donuts according to sources. The store which is 2,600 square foot is planning to hire eight employees. It will supposedly have 11 parking spaces and will remain open 24 hours, seven days a week. EJ Motors will be removed from the location for the 7-Eleven location.

Massey Knakal Realty Services expects this area to become an "emerging retail zone". It posted an advertisement which says that a small retail plaza is also being proposed for the site opposite Elizabeth Avenue from the 7-Eleven.

In the recent years 7-Eleven has expanded its Essex County presence. This year 7-Eleven opened in the Kinney Building on Broad Street in downtown. Earlier there was only one Newark store located on McCarter Highway for several years. In addition to that, it will also open a store at East Orange. A store in Livingston was inaugurated earlier this year.
