ANCHORAGE -- On March 12, Nordstrom, Inc. announced its plans to open a Nordstrom Rack in Anchorage, Alaska. The store, scheduled to open at The Mall at Sears in the fall of 2015, is expected to be about 35,000-square-feet.

Nordstrom Rack President Geevy Thomas said the company is "thrilled" to bring the Rack to Anchorage, which already has a nearly four-decade history with full-line Nordstrom stores. As the off-price retail division of Nordstrom, the Rack carries a mix of merchandise from brick-and-mortar as well as online Nordstrom stores.

Developed by Seritage Realty Trust, which is a division of Sears Holdings Corporation, the Mall at Sears is located in midtown Anchorage, nearly two miles south of a full line Nordstrom location.

The new Nordstrom Rack is part of a much larger remodel of the location. While Sears will continue to act as the mall's primary anchor store, the redevelopment plan will include massive interior remodels and a new storefront. The Rack will occupy a suite within the Sears store.

Seritage Realty Trust CEO David Lukes expressed his enthusiasm for bringing the Rack to the Sears property and state that it would be a "wonderful asset" for the business and customers alike.
