American Alcohol Retailer, Total Wine & More is a family owned, privately held alcohol retailer, founded by brothers David and Robert Trone. It is the country's largest independent retailer of fine wine and a four-time National Retailer of the Year. It is headquartered in Potomac, Maryland. Founded in the year 1991, it started as a small independent store of about 2500 Square Feet in Claymont, Delaware which was followed by a second store in Milltown, Delaware.

It had 113 stores in 16 states of California, Connecticut, Arizona, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Virginia and Washington as of December 2014. They will expand into Massachusetts with a new store in Natick in late 2015.  It's estimated revenue was more than $1.5 billion in 2014.

As it grew steadily in the 1990’s Trone appointed executives from major retailers like BJ's, Zales, Bloomingdales, Toys R’ Us and The Home Depot which majorly helped in the expansion of the business. Each Total Wine store carries about 5,000-7,000 different types of Wines from almost every wine producing region in the world, 3,000 types of spirits (where it is permitted by law) from every price range and category and about 2,500 beers which range from America's most popular to hard-to-find microbrews and imports.

Their innovative team travels all around the world in search of quality wines, and befriending hundreds of wine growers and making lasting relationships whose ultimate aim is to produce quality wines. The relationship gives Total Wine & More access to some of the most exceptional wines from all around the world. Along with the importers and wholesalers it helps them in bringing them the wine directly from the wineries to their customers, thereby cutting down on the excess costs.

Every Total Wine & More also provides in-house publications to their customers, including “Guide To Wine. It offers a variety of ways to their customers to gain an in-depth knowledge about the wines, beer and spirits that are sold in their stores. Each store hosts weekly tastings, special events and classes where customers can learn firsthand from experts, winemakers, brew masters and industry professionals. Education centers are also made available in every local community. Total Wine & More also offers free meeting space for local businesses, clubs and organizations. Each center provides a private room equipped with everything needed to host a successful meeting. They also provide their guests with something special- a complimentary 30-minute wine tasting for all attendees.
